OUR PURPOSE

The Zangdokpalri Foundation for Great Compassion was established in 2002 at the request of  Kunzang Dechen Lingpa Rinpoche to establish the non-sectarian teachings of the Buddhism of Tibet in the west and support the Nuns and Monks of Zangdokpalri in India.

Rinpoche is a terton (revealer of Dharma treasures) in the Ancient Lineage (Nyingma) of Tibetan Buddhism. At the end of his life he took the sole responsibility for the education and welfare of over 170 nuns and monks in remote northeastern India. Since Rinpoche's passing in 2006, this responsibility has passed, like the pure nectar of one vessel being poured into another, to his son and spiritual heir, Dungse Rigdzin Dorje Rinpoche.

Through the projects and programs described in this website, we work to preserve Rinpoche's ancient spiritual lineage and to realize his vision for world peace. Please click here for links to photo galleries of our most recent activities.

Zangdokpalri Foundation for Great Compassion is a volunteer nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization, with no paid staff. Donations are fully tax-deductible to the extent of the law, and all proceeds (after very minimal, basic operating expenses) go directly to support the construction of the temple and medical clinic and to meet the simple needs of the spiritual community of the Nuns and Monks studying under Rinpoche in one of the poorest areas in the world.

To join in this effort, please see our how to help page, make a purchase from our online store, and join us at one of the events planned for the 2008 Cutting Through Obstacles Tour! If you are unable to attend a Chö healing event during the current tour (or would like to include someone who is unable to attend), click on the link for informaton on how you may still participate and benefit from these practices: Chö Healing From Afar.
