THE ZANGDOKPALRI MONASTIC COMMUNITY
According to his visions of Padmasambava, Kunzang Dechen Rinpoche established a nunnery and monastery in Arunachal Pradesh and Assam, two insulated states in the northeastern region of India and among the poorest though most beautiful areas in the world. Now under the guidance of Dungse Rigdzin Dorje Rinpoche, the monks and nuns study, practice, and play an increasingly important role in the surrounding community.

It was Kunzang Dechen Rinpoche's aspiration that - with our help - this monastic community of over 170 monks and nuns will become an oasis of Buddhist scholarship, sacred art and meditation and that the ancient Dharma lineage seed that Rinpoche brought from Tibet less than 23 years ago may grow to be a resilient and many-branched tree on these far eastern slopes of the Himalayas.

You can read more about the history of the monks and nuns and how Rinpoche came to help them on Rinpoche's biography page of this website, where you will also find an annotated map.
